PDF Markup Ideas

Reflect Updated Comments in Issues After Edits from Annotation Markup tool

Currently, when a reviewer raises an issue from a leader annotation markup in Bentley PDF Reviewer, any subsequent edits or amendments to the comment on the PDF do not update in the right-hand side issue panel or dashboard. Instead, the original comment remains, even though the markup text has changed.

This creates confusion and inconsistency because reviewers often refine their comments as they review more pages or gain additional design clarification. Having outdated comments in the issue list can lead to miscommunication and incorrect resolutions.

The proposed enhancement is to ensure that when a comment linked to an issue is edited on the PDF, the updated text automatically syncs with the issue panel and dashboard.

Use Case:
A reviewer raises an issue noting “Check alignment of beam.” Later, after reviewing more sheets, they update the comment to “Check alignment and size of beam per structural spec.” Currently, the dashboard still shows the original text, which does not reflect the reviewer’s latest input. This can cause the design team to miss critical details.

Value:

  • Maintains consistency between markup and issue tracking.

  • Reduces risk of miscommunication and incomplete resolutions.

  • Supports dynamic review workflows where comments evolve over time.
